The Guild is currently supporting two ongoing outreach projects for the Ajax Hospital. We hope you will lend your time, talent and materials to these very worthwhile projects. Collections will be taken at all meetings.
Wheelchair Cozies – This year you have the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a person confined to a wheelchair by making a Cozy. Cozies can be knit, crocheted or quilted and must be 30 by 30 inches. No specific pattern. Let your imagination take you. Do you have some leftover blocks from a quilt already completed, or need to test out a pattern, or perhaps some string blocks?
Knitted Hats for newborns – What a great way to keep your hands busy while watching the tube this winter! You can knit in any colour but new moms usually choose pink or blue (not white) and second time around moms go for the vibrant colours. A pattern is providing below but you any use any pattern as long as the bottom of the hat is at least 9 inches.
Using baby yarn and needles that provide the correct tension. (Bernat Baby and size 8 needles for example) Cast on 62 stitches or enough to make the hat 9″. Work 2 ¾ inches in K1 P1 ribbing. Next row dec. 4 stitches across row. Continue in Knit 1 row, purl 1 row for 1 ½ inches
